The administration has presented the logo and livery for Great British Railways, constituting a key move in its policy to bring the railways back into state hands.
The updated livery showcases a patriotic design to represent the Union Flag and will be applied on GBR trains, at railway stations, and across its digital platforms.
Significantly, the emblem is the recognisable double-arrow symbol historically used by the national rail network and previously created in the mid-20th century for British Rail.
The implementation of the branding, which was created by the department, is scheduled to take place over time.
Commuters are scheduled to start noticing the freshly-liveried trains across the national network from the coming spring.
In the month of December, the branding will be exhibited at prominent railway stations, like London Bridge.
The legislation, which will allow the creation of Great British Railways, is currently moving through the legislative process.
The government has stated it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the service is "owned by the passengers, working for the people, not for profit."
The new body will unify the running of train services and infrastructure under a unified structure.
The government has stated it will combine 17 separate bodies and "reduce the problematic administrative hurdles and accountability gap that has long affected the railways."
The launch of GBR will also include a comprehensive app, which will allow users to check timetables and reserve journeys without booking fees.
Accessibility travellers will also be able to use the application to arrange assistance.
Multiple franchises had earlier been taken into public control under the outgoing government, such as TPE.
There are currently seven operating companies now in public control, representing about a third of rail travel.
In the last twelve months, Greater Anglia have been brought into public ownership, with further franchises likely to be added in the coming years.
"The new design is not simply a paint job," stated the relevant minister. It signifies "a new railway, leaving behind the issues of the past and concentrated solely on offering a genuine public service."
Rail leaders have welcomed the government's commitment to enhancing services.
"We will continue to collaborate with relevant bodies to support a smooth handover to Great British Railways," a representative added.
