Seamer Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Problems.

'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the playing area on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left leg immediately following a delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field to undergo evaluation "during the day".

The series decider of the series in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just three wickets.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

However, at the end of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test having missed the previous Test.
