Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, politically driven stories. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
