A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose behind the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what resembled a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
