The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
